Metal sandblasting FAQ

Q: Does sandblasting remove rust and paint from old cast iron fireplace surrounds log burning stoves?

A: Yes. We use advanced dustless blasting equipment that is effective yet delicate and perfect for removing old paint and rust. Often, the process reveals beautiful lost characteristics too, restoring the item’s original detailing.

Also, it will etch the surface slightly, which is the perfect preparation for applying a new coat of paint.

Q: Is your sandblasting process so aggressive that it will remove a galvanised finish with the top coat of paint?

A. Our wet blast dustless blasting system allows us to fully control the grit-flow and pressure, so we’re able to remove the paint with minimal disruption to the galvanised finish.

Q.I would like to sandblast a trailer, including the wheels, will sandblasting damage the tyres, hoses and cables or will they need to be removed?

A. Because our sandblasting equipment is fully controllable and dustless, we’re able to be very accurate with the nozzle, so it’s not usually necessary to remove the tyres. Cables and hoses are taped up which is usually adequate preparation.

Q.What does sandblasting do to metal?

A. Sandblasting is perfect for removing rust and old paint from metal with the added advantage of perfectly profiling the surface in preparation for paintwork, powder coating and galvanisation.
A coating is only as good as the preparation of the underlying surface.
The addition of water in our process eliminates the risk of heat distortion.
