Method for wood sandblasting
We use the unique and patented Quill Falcon Kwickblast System which combines water, blast media and air to provide an efficient, yet gentle, method of abrasive blasting.
Wet abrasive blasting (also known as vapor abrasive blasting) removes coatings, contaminants, corrosion and residues from hard surfaces. It’s similar to dry sand blasting, except that the blast media is moistened prior to impacting the surface.
The main advantage of vapor abrasive blasting over dry sand blasting is that it reduces dust, allowing for much better visibility and therefore better operational precision. Vapor abrasive blasting is alternatively referred to as wet blasting, wet abrasive blasting, vapor blasting, slurry blasting, wet sandblasting and dustless blasting.
1Let abrasive blasting can substitute for dry sandblasting for virtually any application, but there are surfaces, conditions and environments for which wet blasting is especially advantageous including wooden surfaces. Wet blasters can operate effectively at lower PSI, removing coatings and installation marks without damaging the underlying substrate.

Wood sandblasting FAQ
Q: Can your wet blasting method effectively clean timber frames Including green oak?
A: Timber (and particularly oak) can can blacken when exposed to steel saw blades and drills, it can also go grey with exposure to UV light and weathering.
Our gentle cleaning process is perfect to remove all these unwanted blemishes along with pencil and installation marks at the end of the job. It is a far more effective method than acid cleaning. We use a fine particle size, non-ferrous blasting media perfect for achieving an even flat finish. The grit flow can be increased to pull out a grainier effect if this is preferable, we usually recommend a sample on an off cut in this case.
Q.Does your wet blasting method leave water stains?
A. No. The timber is thoroughly washed down with clean water at the end of the process leaving no staining.
Q.Why is your system better than using paint stripper or a heat gun to remove paint?
A. It is faster more thorough at getting into awkward corners and detailing and will not leave scorch marks coursed by heat guns.
