Masonry - Border Sandblasting

Other Services

When sandblasting an old building you never know exactly what you are going to find underneath the paintwork and if you are removing a render coat to expose the masonry beneath, things are even more uncertain.
But with over 25 years in the building industry we are always happy to advise and undertake repair work and repointing, if required.
Stripping the masonry back to its original state also presents a good opportunity to renew the old pointing if it is found to be in a poor state, this is also a service we can offer.

Surface preparation for tanking and rendering:

When tanking or rendering onto masonry a good key is essential if the work is to endure for many years.
Not only does our sandblasting process remove any undesired coating getting back to the bare material you are working on, it will perfectly profile the surface to ensure the best adhesion possible. High pressure water cleaning will not accomplish this.
A coating is only as good as the preparation of the underlying surface.

Q. Can you remove render/pebble dash in preparation for blasting, and organise scaffold access if required?

A. Yes. We are happy to price for this stage of the work, although we would always recommend our try a sample service before committing to the full job to ensure you are happy with the condition of the masonry.

Cottage in Midgeholme, Cumbria:

We sandblasted this cottage which at some point had had the corner extended in concrete blocks.
We removed the outer skin and replaced with local river cobbles and formed some more convincing rendered coins then repointed with a lime mix.

Google 5* Review

Border Sandblasting took the old painted render off the front face of our house to expose the original stone and repoint it all to bring about a fantastic original looking finish, in keeping with the house itself.

We are very grateful for the hard work put in, Neal’s creative suggestions on what could be done to best blend the original front with the extended part of the house and for the finished article which looks infinitely better!

Highly recommended.
